Happy Hues: A Home for Two | Interiors

For owner Brady Mills and his young daughter Amelia, interior designer Maureen Stevens created a comfortable and highly functional environment that father, child and Lucy, their Goldendoodle, would find equally inviting and fun. “My client really wanted an airy, clutter-free space that would feel very special to his daughter and well-organized for her busy life as a single dad,” Maureen explains. The newly built home in the Carrollton neighborhood has an open floor plan filled with lots of natural light. With a fresh color palette – minimalist and neutral with pops of color here and there – and a cheerful mix of furniture and accessories, everyone is more than satisfied.

Upon entering the house, we immediately see the marriage of the two sensitivities. Amelia’s favorite hues of pink, lilac and mint are mixed with the warm doses of “masculine colors” delivered in various wood tones, caramel leather and dark green fabrics and accents. In the living room, a beefy sectional sofa by Interior Define, a masculine Egg chair by Rove Concepts, and a mid-century Swole coffee table by Blu Dot are all anchored by a collected art gallery wall. Feminine touches include the lavender velvet chair from Urban Outfitters, a vintage Moroccan ottoman found on Etsy, and listen for the fringed lamp from Anthropologie that greets you right at the front door!

Maureen continues to create father-daughter heaven in the kitchen and dining room. Her choices are playful, such as the Lisbeth chandelier by Anthropologie above the dining table and the painted Wisteria island by Sherwin Williams, but she keeps that cool modern dad look by sticking to furniture shapes. contemporary throughout. I particularly like the AllModern Oak Omar Table and Matcha Green Chairs from Industry West for a sleek, youthful and friendly look. With warm wooden woven blinds and crisp, simple CB2 linens covering all the windows, the overall vibe is super fresh and tidy.

In Brady’s bedroom, you’ll find more of the deep greens and blues he loves paired with a soothing wall color, Violet Dusk by Benjamin Moore. Maureen layered texture and color – a forest velvet headboard from CB2, a teal rug from Lolia, a cobalt lounge chair from CB2 and a mix of patterned pillows – to create a relaxing retreat accented with art and personal memories collected over time. Amelia’s bedroom wallpaper, Palm Springs by Mind The Gap, and the energetic and consistent use of color throughout the house, makes my heart sing. It’s the little details that make a house a home – the whimsy, the charm and the vibrancy. With the adorable Bunny task lamp from Pottery Barn, the coordinating light switch plates from Touch of Class and the bohemian interplay of various prints in the bedding and draperies, it’s obvious that Maureen has made the perfect nest for her. this duo.
