Assistant Professor/Interior Architecture Lecturer job with NORTHUMBRIA UNIVERSITY


Working in the Department of Architecture and built environment, you will contribute to the architecture subject group to enhance academic activities and the student learning experience within our Interior architecture program.

We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in:

  • Interior architecture
  • Creative heritage
  • Adaptive reuse

Our RIBA NE award-winning Sutherland Studios provide our staff and over 400 architecture and interior design students with exceptional facilities and affirm the place of design studios at the center of our educational ideology.

Therefore, we are seeking the interest of high caliber candidates who are familiar with teaching design in the studio and who:

  • To improve the subject group and department through quality contribution to the design, development and delivery of curriculum content and management of modules/curricula in Interior architecture.
  • Provide expertise to support academic, research and corporate activity within Interior architecture, specifically in the areas of creative, heritage and adaptive reuse and may also include; interior, design education and/or professional practice.
  • Contribute to research activities in alignment with Northumbria University REF 2021 Assessment Unit 13 submission, particularly in the area of ​​research by design, constructed artifacts and/or publication.

You must hold a first degree, with expertise in the field Interior architecture, design, or adaptive reuse and have or be in the process of obtaining a doctorate, or have equivalent professional experience in the practice of design.
