Cycle Projects is a New York-based architecture and design firm that offers a creative and collaborative work environment with a portfolio focused primarily on the hospitality industry. We focus on forward-thinking clients who look to us to help them think outside the box, creating new ways of conceptualizing spaces for innovative business concepts.
Current hotel projects include hotels, restaurants and resorts, in addition to high-end residential townhouses. We also develop premium brand concepts and retail spaces, often designing all components right down to the design of fixtures, lighting and furniture.
We choose projects for their promising design opportunities and prioritize clients looking for a positive and collaborative experience. We work together to customize all aspects, including the layout of the space, carpentry, finishes, furnishings and lighting, while maximizing functionality.
Our studio-based approach gives staff the flexibility to participate in many facets of a project as well as manage their own tasks and workload.
Currently, we are looking to fill the following position for:
The candidate will be responsible for performing creative and production tasks. The work will include all phases of a project, from design to completion of construction. The project designer will benefit from a dynamic work environment and challenging project tasks and responsibilities.
The Cycle Projects design process consists of developing a project largely in 3D visualization and workshops with the client. The production is done mainly with AutoCAD and sometimes Revit. Managing meetings with clients, meeting minutes, project schedules, interior budgets and all deliverables throughout the phases of the project will be key responsibilities.
Experience with AutoCAD is required; Basic Rhino and additional Vray proficiency is helpful. Partial teleworking is possible by prior agreement, depending on the needs of the client and / or the client.
Applicants for this position must have the following qualifications:
3 to 5 years of professional experience, working full time in high-end residential, multi-family residential, hotel or commercial projects, preferably in New York.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in interior design or architecture
Strong design, rendering, presentation and communication skills
· Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino is required and will be tested.
Proficiency in Vray, Adobe CS (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign), Rhino, Sketchup; 3D Max and Revit a plus
· Excellent design presentation skills, from original concept and space planning to schematic and design development to CD and CA.
Excellent organizational and teamwork skills, with great attention to detail
Ability to multitask with multiple projects in a fast paced design environment
Experience in SD & preparation of construction documents
Basic knowledge of current building codes including ADA requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare presentation material, as well as maintain a professional attitude with suppliers
Ability to assist on architectural projects in addition to interior design related tasks
Be a motivated, proactive and energetic team member able to meet project deadlines and actively participate in the design conversation.
Applicants must provide proof of previous experience in the performance of the following tasks:
Preparation of previous images and concept documents for initial internal and client presentations
Gather cohesive and well-crafted design ideas for the main exam
· Accurately update drawings in a red line process as directed by a Project Manager / Principal.
· The production of interior design presentations including elevations, plans and interior details photoshoped with precision and 2D or 3D drawings in Autocad or Revit is a necessity.
Communicate with suppliers and visit showrooms to find products, including materials, plumbing fixtures, appliances, furniture, lighting and fabrics needed for design presentations
· Basic knowledge of the New York design market and suppliers.
Strong knowledge of interior details (carpentry, carpentry, etc.) and furniture manufacturing methodologies
· Work directly with senior architectural staff to coordinate interior design vision in working papers.
· Production of specifications for materials, plumbing, fixtures and furniture to be incorporated into architectural packages for construction and purchase.
· Track project tasks for multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced design environment.
